Do As I Say, Not As I Do

For some reason, after running a total of 19 miles during the week I thought it would be a good idea to go for a 14 mile long run yesterday. I was just so excited to run with my bestest MA running buddy along the Charles River. It was such a beautiful run!

She had a workout 2x 4 miles at marathon pace sandwiched between some easy running, and we ended up averaging 7:16 pace.

I was pretty dead by the end and will not be running a long run that far after a few weeks off ever again. Please do as I say and not as I do – it is best to ease back into long runs after taking a running break!
When in doubt, scramble eggs with a bunch of veggies, top it with mounds of salsa and hot sauce and call it lunch. This really hit the spot!

Yesterday’s post-long run nap took place on a pool floaty with my favorite pups!

After a not-long-enough nap Henri and I were off to play golf with my sister and her boyfriend. I was by far the worst one there which is never fun, but I survived and I will definitely go again! (After taking a lesson of course!)

The long run and golf outing had me so tired that I fell asleep about 45 mins into American Hustle which is a movie I’ve been wanting to see forever. I guess I’ll just have to make Henri watch it again tonight! 😉
Hope you’re having a great weekend and that your Sunday is fun and restful!

How was your long run this weekend?
Do you like golf? Do you have any helpful tips for me?? Cause I stink! Lol

  1. Awesome pace for taking a running break! Maybe some day I will be as speedy as you 🙂

I did 10 miles this weekend and felt awesome afterwards. Hopefully I can say the same about this week’s 16 miles!

  2. Golfing always looks so fun! I would love to learn how to do it. The hotel I work at has a beautiful course and I’ve always wanted to try it out. I wish I had some tips for you, but I’m definitely clueless when it comes to that sport.

  3. I love love love golf, but I only like watching it. I don’t play ha. I am like an 80 year woman on the weekends watching golf. I know it is weird – my friends remind me often. Wish I could help with some tips!

  4. My long run was only 6 miles this weekend. Trying to ease back in after 4 months off for an injury, but we did it on a really hard trail going from 9,000 feet up to 11,000 feet in elevation and I was seriously struggling. Hopefully this weekends 8 will go better!
I am HORRIBLE at golf and totally refuse to play – haha.
