The Month in Review – July 2014

Wow! What a whirlwind trip! I feel like so much has happened in the last 24 hours that I don’t even know where to begin talking about it. I need to collect my thoughts (and pictures) so I will have a recap of our quick NYC trip up tomorrow. For now lets take a look back at the month of July!

I LOVE looking back at the end of the month to see everything that happened in the previous 30/31 days, when I don’t take the time to do this the days/weeks/months/years seem to fly! For the past few months I have stuck with the “A Look Back & A Glance Forward” posts that I’ve always done while toying with the idea of switching it up a little bit. Eventually I would like to have a list of things that perfectly summarize the last month but for now I’ll be tweaking these categories in the hopes of settling on a consistent monthly recap!

July Miles: 93

July Races: 0

Favorite Run: It’s a toss up between last weekend’s long run with my MA running buddy or my first practice with NB Boston on Tuesday!

Newest Obsession: My new Erin Condren planner! I decided to treat myself and spent a little of my extra money from coaching on an awesome new planner. It arrived in the mail while we were in NYC yesterday and I’m already OBSESSED! I used one of my favorite photos from our shoot back in January and I’m really happy with how it came out!photo (13)

Tastiest Thing I Ate: The carbonara that I got for my birthday dinner was really tasty! The flavor of the sauce was amazing and I could definitely tell that the noodles were homemade because they were perfectly tender and tasted really fresh! Homemade pasta will always have my heart!
Pasta Carbonara. Best New Recipe: The Lemon Curd Gelato Pie that I made for my birthday! I wish it didn’t take so long to make or I would eat it every.single.day!photo 1 (39)

Favorite Post to Write: When I got to share my big news with you guys!

Most Read Post: This post about my shift in training focus!

Favorite Post to Read: Not Running for A-Win’s post about distraction and how sometimes life is more important than running

Looking Forward To [In August]: More NB Boston practices, starting my coaching job at MIT and getting to know my new teammates and athletes better!

What was your favorite run in July?

Best thing you ate this past month?

What else would you like to see in a monthly recap? I need ideas!

  1. The picture on your planner is beautiful! I absolutely love my Erin Condren planner.
I really like the monthly updates! It really ties everything together. I’m looking forward to reading more about your practices with the NB team.

  2. I agree, can’t wait to hear ore about the NB team and about how coaching goes once you start at MIT 🙂 Best thing I ate in July was our anniversary dinner at a fancy french restaurant and best run was probably the one from yesterday just because it was only 55 degrees in the morning! We are back to 85 and humid again today so it was a nice little break for one day and my run felt so much easier.

  3. What a fun month you had and an exciting month you have coming up with both of your new teams! I love that personalized planner, what a cute idea! My favorite run in July was my 4-mile race on the fourth. It was a fun way to kick of the holiday! Best thing I ate was probably this ice cream called “magic cookie bar”…my family bakes those at Christmastime and I was really excited when I saw an ice cream version of it in the store! 🙂
